Earned Media Value (EMV) is the estimated dollar equivalent of organic creator content — what it would cost to buy equivalent reach and engagement through paid advertising. EMV is commonly used to benchmark influencer content against paid media spend and demonstrate ROI to stakeholders.

How EMV is Calculated

EMV combines reach value (based on CPM benchmarks by platform) and engagement value (based on CPE benchmarks). Instagram content benchmarks at ~$8 CPM and $0.25 CPE. TikTok at ~$10 CPM and $0.15 CPE. YouTube at ~$20 CPM and $0.35 CPE due to higher content investment and intent.
